Picture: Desolate Trig Point of Beann Mhor
2 VL for the price of 1?
by muddyboots  2 Jan 2017
See comments on Coomcallee for access and initial ascent. On reaching the fence line at the top, simply follow until you ascend to the plateau of Beann na Stiocairi. Care is needed here in heavy mist as the fence then goes both left and right just before the summit of Beann Na Stiocairi at 672m. Follow the fence line to the right but to "summit" this VL you have to then search for the highest peat hag on your left as you head to Beann Mhor. It's easy to get disoriented on this plateau summit in mist and start descending to the left of point 672. Regain the first fence line and continue until it reaches the Trig Point at 675m. It really is hard to see how these are 2 VL summits-both contour down to 660m. At least Beann Mhor rises the required 15m to 675 but I'm not sure how Beann na Stiocairi makes it at 672? Anyone?
