MountainViews.ie Picture about mountain Knocknaveacal North Top in area Caha Mountains, Ireland
Picture: Summit

Zig zagging around giant walls of stone
Short Summary created by simon3, Colin Murphy  15 Oct 2024
The simplest approach to this summit is from the north. There is room for several cars to park at V755 578 starA, on the Beara Way. Continue along the track through the woods for about 500m to V750 576 starB, where you can access the open hillside. The ascent to the SSW is gentle at first but becomes increasingly steep, although the terrain is firm - mostly short grass and rocks. You will have to negotiate around many impressive, giant slabs of rock as you ascend. The top is a quite distinct outcrop of rock. 2 hours climb from car in mostly good conditions.
Note: the prominence of this summit hovers near the minimum. Its height has been measured, however it's not clear what the keycol so its Arderin status may change. Our advice: if visiting this also visit Knocknaveacal South top. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1475/comment/18103/
