It will most usually be reached from Cummeenbaun. From Glanrastel, parking at
Feh Ln (V80498 57651), over Cummeenbaun to the summit, and from Glantrasna, parking at GlTrasna Bge (V82637 59648), up the ridge to Cummeenbaun and onto Droppa itself.It can be combined in a number of longer routes, particularly the circuit of Glentrasna, parking at either
GlTrasna Bge (V82637 59648) or CrGanine (V80519 60522) allows access to a round taking in Knockreagh, Coomnadiha, Caha (not MV-listed), Droppa and Cummenbaun. In either case an amount of road-walking will be necessary. The entire circuit should take around 6 hours.

Glentrasna circuit without the road walking

A slightly shorter version of Onzy's route avoids the road walking and still takes in all the best bits of the Glentrasna circuit. Park by the bridge at GlTrasna Bge (V826 596), cross it and go along the road rightwards to the farm. Just after this turn left on a rougher track until this ends at a fence. About 20m up this is a gap taken by another rough track which zigzags up to end in open moorland. Go up this (bits of sheep path) to the broad saddle south of Derreenataggart, then bear left up steeper but easier ground to the top of Cummeenbaun. The ridge then swings round eastwards over Droppa, with lovely airy views into the glen, before broadening over an unnamed top A (V839 584) (unless this is the elusive "Eagles Nest" and the text has migrated to the next sheet when the modern maps came out?). The view back along to Droppa and Cummeenbaun is terrific, with the best side of Knockowen and the Cummeengeera hills behind.
A bit of a plod with peat hags takes you to Caha (listed by Wall but not on MV) where you can enjoy the intellectual stimulation of trying to work out which peaty hummock is highest. No such problem with the next top, Coomnadiha, which is clearly marked by a trig point (though the irredeemably pedantic might argue that the rock a few metres NE is perhaps slightly higher?). A direct descent west here takes you into a broad open coum, with the advantage of going with the grain of the ground (useful for navigation in mist as well as easier). Most of the going is easy, but you do have to briefly tangle with the tussock grass around the 300m contour. Cross the stream on the right just after this, as a bigger stream comes in from the left soon afterwards, draining from Lough Macoumane and dropping into the coum in some dramatic waterfalls. A small path soon materialises on the north bank of the stream and leads down to a bridge in Glentrasna, where a farm track deposits you right next to your car.
