Approach via wind farm tracks
Short Summary created by Colin Murphy, simon3  17 Apr 2024
Approach to this is usually via Carran itself. If you want to do it in isolation, it is possible from the NE. Parking for several cars at the entrance to a wind farm at W10110 69832 starA. Head west up the wind farm track. Take the wind farm track on the right, the one that skirts the valley and follow it as it curves around the lower slopes of Coomataggart and Coomataggart SW, eventually leading down to a river bridge at W07947 68520 starB, and then continuing for about 1km up the eastern slope of Carran NE Top. At roughly W07041 68772 starC, leave the track and head SW up the grassy slope to reach the summit after about 700m. There is a slightly elevated area and some summit marking stones. Views somewhat marred by countless wind turbines. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1438/comment/18066/
