Drumderalough Circuit
by Geo  30 Jun 2019
Did this on a Vandeleur Lynam bagging expedition 29th June 2019.
We attempted to reach V9245 7670 starA to park but were thwarted at junction V924 758 starB by gates into farmyards . The track which goes north at this point goes through a farmyard through a gate which was closed. It would be advisable to ask if there's anyone about if it's ok to park up here and continue on foot up the track.
At about V925 776 starC head NE across rocky but easy going to summit of Knockrower. Then head slightly N of East to spot height 508 and continue over the still good ground up NE to summit Dromderalough North-West Top which is unmarked (as are most of the peaks roundabout here.
About 2 hours from the car and you can then use this as your launch pad to do the three local VL's namely Dromderalough NE top, Dromderalough and Knockbrack. The whole circuit is 16km with 800m ascent but the descent from Knockbrack is tricky and needs close attention as by this point the ground is less easy!
