Bedrock type: Granite granophyre, (Mourne Mountains granite)

A substantial tower has been built on the summit. The spot height is given as 704m on the 1:25,000 map, but this does not square with the contours, which only go up to 680m. Spellack (speilic, ' a splintery rock') is a spur on Slieve Meelmore.   Slieve Meelmore is the 143rd highest place in Ireland.

Two walls on the east side of Slieve Meelmore as shown in the photo, seen from Slieve Bearnagh lead the way to the top.
