Loved my time on this hill. I paddled to the storm beach at A'Beg W (L71556 92408) and wandered west to see if I could find the remnants of what was once an elaborate promontory fort close to A (L70729 92549). I did find some low walls and would not have realised I was in the vicinity of the fort had I not read about it in David Walsh's great book 'Oiléain'. The Atlantic has taken its toll here although the area is remarkably flat and a pleasure to explore. Anyway, after a desultory half hour I headed up to the top of Creag a' Lomáin* enjoying a bit of scrambling and some remarkable views of Achill Sound and the nearby beaches, hills and piers of Achill en route. Care needs to be taken in heading S off the hill as there are some small but dangerous cliffs near the summit.
* I went with the name of the hill that I came across in the East-West map of the area. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1374/comment/23049/
