Tomaneena Mountain Tuaim an Aonaigh A name in Irish, also Turlough Hill an extra name in English (Ir. poss. Tuaim an Aonaigh [PNCW], 'mound of the fair') Wicklow County in Leinster Province, in Arderin, Vandeleur-Lynam Lists, Adamellite with microcline phenocrysts Bedrock

The first element may alternatively be Ir. tom, 'bush' or 'knoll'. Ir. aonach means 'a fair or assembly'. It is therefore curious that the mountain NW of Tomaneena is called Fair Mountain in English. Its Irish name is An Chaor. The valley below Fair Mountain is named Glenceera according to Price [PNCW]. Tomaneena is also known as Turlough Hill.   Tomaneena is the 138th highest place in Ireland.

An easy to follow route up suits beginners
Short Summary created by csd  5 Aug 2019
The easiest route to Toomaneena is from the Wicklow Gap. There are two car parks there with ample space. Follow the access route for Turlough Hill's upper lake, which starts at O 07471 00118 starA at the westerly car park. Follow to the t-junction at the top and take the rough track to the right (SW). The actual summit is about 60 metres SW from the path that skirts the quarry cliff. Be careful of the cliff edge in poor visibility as the fence guarding it isn't in the best of condition.
