On the go to Ballyroe
by eamonoc  4 Nov 2021
On Thursday 28th Oct, ventured out on a wet west Cork morning towards Barryroe Hill, also studied google Earth arrived at
W13654 29656 starA, just about enough room to park one car without blocking gate, a few Donkeys in the field paid no attention to me, just inside gate was able to use and old overgrown very wet track to gain a bit of height and arrived at an old stone wall followed this through dying ferns to top of hill, had a good walk about saw a small passage grave ? and discovered an old low sized summit marker,. Farmer Bart.
by sandman  4 Nov 2021
Arriving in the area on a nice October morning parking the best I could on an narrow road studying the map and Google Earth for the best route to the summit Farmer Bart arrived and after the introductions offered to show me the best way up. Not to disagree with a local farmer I really had no option but to follow his advice. Parking at W1351928553 starB adjacent to a farmyard owned by his friend and by keeping to the left after the farm buildings I found my way to open hillside and an easy walk to the summit. But be advised there is the option on the west side of the hill for easier access via farm track to mast and along the side of a forestry but again this is through a farm yard.
