A better way?
by paddyhillsbagger 13 Mar 2016
I parked at Sky Rd (L61729 51734) and walked up muddy path to climb steep slope to the spine of Gortrumnagh. Trig visible in distance so proceeded towards it only to find a quarry has ripped out a large section! Made my way around the obstacle to reach summit and wonderful views. But there has to be a better way to the top! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1324/comment/18454/

Drive or Walk

The gravel track at A (L61338 51903) will bring you up to the second quarry workings allowing you to park at G'Drum W (L62136 51955) and enter the open hillside via a gate just inside the quarry to the left. No signs exist forbidding entry that is usually expected in an active quarry. Based on the machinery present this is not an every day working outfit . Although the summit has its trig an unusual cairn exists near by. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1324/comment/19519/
