Picture: Summit Trig
Well Protected.
by sandman 18 Aug 2014
Looking at OS57 it looked a short walk over farmland to the summit A (R25267 89531) from where i parked at B (R25457 88670) but i was wrong this trig was well protected with forest that left the walk a lot longer than i had first planned. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1306/comment/17622/

Only if you must!
by Jamessheerin 5 May 2017
Tried it from the East as an alternative to Sandman's route; very sorry I did! Started at C (R25793 89608) followed track west. When it ended it left no alternative but enter the trees. Bad experience... if the "Donald" was to climb this hill he would describe it as "a very bad hill". Then he would build a wall around it. He would be right to do that. This hill is only for the list tickers. I climbed a few more hills that day just to wash away the memory of this one! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1306/comment/18907/

Picture: Looking down on Lough Inchiquin
Didn't bag it
by TommyV 5 Jul 2019
I drove as far as the point mentioned by Jamessheerin. Nice views over Lough Inchiquin, the drive trhough the trees only add about ten metres of elevation and lots of briars so I got back in my car and went to Corofin for a not well earned coffee. Easier route
by JohnRea 14 May 2022
Parked at the entrance D (R24835 90154) and walked the forest road to E (R24956 89664) and we then went east along the forest road and went south through the mature forest towards the trig point. Half way between the road and the trig point there is a significant swart of wind fallen trees that proved difficult to navigate, we had scramble over some and crawl under others. For the return we found a much easier route going west and then north.

I recommend parking at D (R24835 90154), following forest road to E (R24956 89664) and then the line of the trees south until you see/meet the forest boundary ditch around F (R2504 8944), follow that east and you cant miss the trig point. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1306/comment/23513/
