Climbed up from Froughan Rock Glen, more or less aiming directly for the ridge rather than taking the path off and around to the right. This beeline route was strenuous, like going up three very large and steep steps rather than the more genteel circuitous path. The hardship was worth it though - a nice clear day up top. One thing must be said: coming down in clear conditions was a doddle until we (I had picked up two companions on the summit) reached the top of the falls above Froughan Rock Glen. This last descent was very tricky, slippy rocks underfoot, the ground littered with felled trees on soft soil. We thought we'd never get down. We all went slipping and sliding (and witnessed the same thing happen to others). Going up this route seemed none too challenging, just your normal ascent, but going down is a different matter.
