Picture: Dublin Bay from Bray Head Hill
Heading south on the R761, turn off at A (O276 153), directly opposite a bus stop with shelter. Follow this cal-de-sac for about 150m until you see a track heading up behind a new house on the right. There is parking by the side of the road here for a few cars. A sign at the start of the track informs you that you will be crossing private farmland, but access is permitted so long as you observe the normal care and precautions. Proceed up the track which takes a sharp hairpin bend after 50 metres. Continue up the steadily rising track for about 800m. Near the end the hill & trig pillar will become visible on the right. Don not be tempted to take a short cut across the open ground as you will encounter a barbed wire fence and chest-high ferns. Instead continue along track until it veers sharply right - a shiny metal gate permits entry to the summit which takes the form of a large rock outcrop. Panoramic views all around. Time from car to top - 20 minutes.

Updated Couldn't find a way up from Sw
by wwwalker 26 Nov 2024
I couldn't find a way up today from Windgates to the SW, I'm not saying there isn't a way but I did not find it so went around to the car park at the start of the cliff walk from Bray to Greystones, made my way to the cross from the path that leaves the start of the cliff walk ( note not the path from the car park) and then along the upper path to the trig pillar which eventually appears on your left - don't go up the bumps along the way which are not the summit. There is a path down to the cliff path shortly before the turn for the trig pillar along which I made my way back to the car park. About 90 minutes. Picture: Bray Head Hill, from the SE.
Small but locally dominant.
by simon3 27 Oct 2014
Bray Head Hill dominates the coast south of Bray, Co Wicklow. This photo shows the summit ridge from the SE at around Kilcoole.
The highest point on the skyline is the summit. To the north of this, right, is a building also on the skyline. In fact this is a film set visible as of October 2014. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1228/comment/17733/

Picture: Lovely Views.
So close yet so far.
by paddyhillsbagger 3 Mar 2014
This fine little top commands great views across the Dublin sprawl. It's so close to the noise and bustle yet at the top there was peace and quiet, it felt so far away. Treat yourself to a lovely walk. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1228/comment/15893/

Heady stuff
by Fergalh 1 Feb 2014
First right after golf club, park at newly built house with a track behind it (B (T02755 71542)2). Than follow track past communications mast, after 300 metres or so grassy tracks lead upwards towards the top, follow these tracks to seaward sign of hill and follow one of various tracks to the top. Contrasting views
by Colin Murphy 25 Jul 2019
One of the great things about this simple walk is that it presents such a panorama of contrasting views, with the Dublin/Wicklow coastline to the seaward side and Wicklow's eastern hills on the landward side. Pick a clear day to visit to get maximum value! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1228/comment/20583/
