Picture: Summit Area.
Typical of the Area.
by sandman 2 May 2017
This hill is typical of the underfoot conditions of other hills in the area unless they have marked trails that is rock , whitish grass and boggy in many places. The fastest ascent is straight up off the R591 at the farm gate located at A (V88794 36873) but you can have a more relaxed approach via the gravel track at B (V88271 34660). At the very end of this track is a turning area and from there you will see a gate leading to the hillside, although you will cross two fences you will be rewarded with a nice ridge walk. Mind how you go

I wouldn’t recommend driving up the track described by sandman. I did and got halfway where it became too overgrown to proceed. They only turning opportunity is a gate that requires some serious effort to get turned around. Park by the roadside and walk down. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1195/comment/19973/

Picture: Overgrown Track
Track nearly Impassible
by Fergalh 8 Jun 2021
Update : The track indicated by Sandman is now totally impassable by any motorised vehicle including tractors as it is overgrown with trees. In fact shortly it will be totally overgrown as in parts it was hard to find ! Eventually I found the gate as indicated and headed up to the summit with a wonderful view in the declining light.
