Summary
for Curradrolan Hill :
Magnificent views and ancient tomb
Summary created by Aidy

Picture: The Sperrins from the summit
On the main road from Dunamanagh to Plumbridge, look out for a sign for the Loughash Wedge Tomb. Take the east-bound side road until you arrive at the tomb on the hillside overlooking the lough. A ten or fifteen minute walk up the hill past the tomb takes you to the summit. No challenge involved, but the hill is worth the visit both for the tomb, and the magnificent views over Lough Ash to the main Sperrin peaks.
Visited this small hill in snowy conditions and bright sunshine. Easy to access from the Dunamanagh/Plumbridge road, taking the side road signed for the Loughash Wedge Tomb. The tomb is marked by another sign at the roadside, although it can be easily seen anyway. There were views down over Lough Ash from here, and a short walk up the hillside past the tomb led to the summit after only 15 minutes or so. A very short walk, but the views are amazing from such a low vantage point, particularly towards the main Sperrin ridge. The ancient wedge tomb provides a nice bit of interest too. Fantastic little hill. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1188/comment/17830/

Rewarding short walk.

I parked in a small side road near to a gate A (C48392 00825) giving access to a field and the Lough Ash Wedge Toomb. It was a simple walk of about 500m crossing a number of fences on the way up. The summit area was flat and hummocky. Pt 270 given in the 1 :25,000 Sperrins Activity Map gives a roamer reading of B (C481 013) and not C (C481 012) as shown in MV. Once there I found there was a rocky upcrop at D (C48209 01313) which seems to me to be the high point of the hill. Nearby there was also a large cairn group of scattered stones which may be the remains of an ancient site. A GPS reading for this is E (C48166 01293) and this corresponds closely to my reading from the map for Pt 270. In regards to other comments I would simply endorse those already recorded by Aidy. Although this was the fourth hill in a round of scattered Binnions it was the only one enhanced by bright sunshine making for a very satisfactory end to the day.
