Very easy up-and-down walk to bag this summit. Park at CallanaT L (CallanaT L (M05634 35700)) (Point A), room for one car, and head uphill. Forty minutes or so for the round trip.
Point A: CallanaT L (M05634 35700)
You will not be disappointed if you save this short walk for a clear and sunny day with its fine views of Galway Bay and across to the high mountains of Connemara. In the future your views to the east will have a large wind farm to contend with as construction takes place adjacent to Knocknalee Hill. As mentioned in the previous comment parking for one car at point A. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1173/comment/18478/
I did this as a leg stretcher during an 80k cycle and enjoyed the 30 mins or so despite the underfoot squelch. It was a clear day and as Sandman hinted I was not disappointed. Views to the south and southwest were stunning and there are also a couple of nice lakes in the region...just don't face east (walking backwards down the hill might help here) and wear ear plugs and you'll avoid the blot on the landscape that is the massive Knocknalee windfarm.
Btw, in the unlikely circumstance of the car space at the saddle being occupied just head south down the road and there's any number of places you could pull in.
If you've driven up from Oughterard to bag this peak i would recommend continuing south on the road to Rasaveel...it's a charming route with great views. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1173/comment/21503/
