One look at this little hill from the Glengarriff camp site I was staying at was enough to explain its lack of popularity maybe. Huge ribs of bare rock in tiers all along this side made for an entertaining assent on the dry rock straight up from the campsite with a few false summits before the high point is reached. Long trek to summit along ridge

Approached this from Derrynafulla SW Top by dropping down the ridge to the col between . Ground is reasonable when I did but not advisable after rain. The forest at the eastern end of the Derrynafulla ridge is narrow and not thick so a push through is straightforward. There are numerous fences to traverse as well. The rough track from the col (on OS Map 85) that leads north to the road goes through private land and the farmer has indicated he does not want hillwalkers in his farm. Ascended from R572. the 1st 100mts from the road are a bit rough, but after that I was able to use the some of the many rocky ramps that abound on this hill to provide me with an interesting and dry ascent of the hill. great views from the top Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1168/comment/23185/
