Summary
for Faranaree Hill :
Where's the summit?
Summary created by mcrtchly
18 May, 2014
MV shows the summit lies to the south of the forestry but inspection of the contours and a visual inspection shows that it lies within the forestry. Park by a forest entrance at K'Mery (S3934 3497). Follow track for 170m to a fork and take the left branch. Continue for another 400m to where a narrow forest break can be seen on the left (A (S3878 3508)). Follow this for about 90m to the highest point along the break. This is probably the summit but the forest on either side is so dense that it impossible to discern otherwise. No views.
According to the notice-board at 'A', this may also be known as Killamery Hill - a local I approached had clearly never heard of it called Faranaree before.
Followed mcrtchly's instructions from 'A'. From here ten or twelve minutes to the summit area. Set out after a fresh fall of snow. Time for the wellies: wonderful winter walking conditions Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1167/comment/23423/

Handy summit

Visited when travelling between Slieve Blooms and Comeraghs. Easily bagged peak following the previous visitors instructions. Not much to see as it was raining but easy to find and easy to summit Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1167/comment/24257/
