Bedrock type: Whitish quartzite with pebble beds, (Slieve Tooey Quartzite Formation)

The name "Maum" appears on the 6" map and on the Discovery map. However, according to logainm.ie, the name belongs to a pass situated to the west of this peak on the southern slopes of Slievetooey, and this seems to be a more appropriate place to be so named.   An Mám is the 1105th highest place in Ireland.

Parking available at G 64147 88864 starA near McMonigle Stoneworks.
The total hike trip of approx. 3 kms with 160m ascent should take around an hour.
Allow a little extra time to enjoy the views.
