I also parked near the viaduct at approx. A (V58197 88424) but instead of crossing the viaduct I followed a track up to a long-abandoned cottage. I accessed this by walking from my car back towards the viaduct but just before it there was a gate on the left which I jumped over. I followed the track to the cottage and then struck off in a SW direction. The going was easy for a while but the top half of the hill involved negotiating high heather which was mega unpleasant. And then the [un-forecast] rain started for which I was totally unprepared. It threatened to ease up but never did and to make matters worse I thought I might try my luck descending in a NW direction in the hope of picking up the disused railway line at some point. The heather was even worse on this side and the only mollifying factor was the abundance of fraochan berries albeit interspersed between clumps of heather that made my post-hike shower an interesting experience! Left car under viaduct, parking space for one just beyond one of the stanchions on the Glenflesk side of the stream at Gl Viaduct (V58143 88566) . Scrambled up and across viaduct itself, and up north east shoulder of the hill. About half an hour of an ascent, was moving slowly after bagging a few more earlier in the day. A couple of fences to negotiate. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1094/comment/17558/
