Surprisingly Good Views
by Aidy 25 Apr 2016
The small hills I've done recently from my local 100 have been a mixed bag, and when I saw how heavily covered by windmills this one was, I didn't have high hopes. I was pleasantly surprised however. The views through the gaps in between were striking at times, particularly as I got some dramatic, stormy weather. Many of the Bluestacks were visible, as were the Glendowan and Derryveagh Mountains. With the access roads making things easy, it was well worth the visit. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1087/comment/18509/

Spoiled by Windmills
by dino 20 Oct 2021
I followed Track 2065 by Peter Walker to keep me right as I followed the many windfarm tracks and didn't want to get lost. I found this a dreadfully dull approach as the track often dips below the surrounding bog. By the time I reached the top I was sick of the sight and sound of windmills. The actual summit is pretty decent but the proliferation of so many windmills in all directions was quite depressing. I wish I was here 20 years ago as it was probably a lovely walk and a cracker view. I struggled today to get a decent photo without windmills. Unfortunately, unless you have a love of windmills or you are ticking this off a list I don't see any point in visiting this spot any longer.

Park at A (C07976 03769) proceed up track and take first right and than first left. High Point is at Wind turbine no. 6. Always ask permission before entering wind farms. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1087/comment/17591/
