Rough but passable route
by ceadeile 29 Apr 2019
Parking at Crsuna Rth (S93208 88627)
From forest barrier gate walk 350 metres NNW (340 degrees grid) to a track junction at A (S93068 88986)
Turn left (SW) and walk 140 metres to B (S93011 88850)
Turn right - NW (315 degrees grid) and beat your way for 220 metres up through the forest along a slight gap in the planting.
This route has plenty of whins / gorse but is just about passable.
At C (S92859 89001) turn left SW (220 degrees grid) up a faint, gravelly track. Again, plenty of whins / gorse and just about passable with difficulty.
After a battle with the whins / gorse you (April 2019) reach taller, more mature trees.
The shade from these trees eradicates the worst of the undergrowth and you can pick your way to the summit trig at D (S92586 88916) Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1073/comment/20506/

There must be an easier way!
by Bunsen7 16 Dec 2017
This is a rather painful hill to summit from the obvious parking spot at the forest entrance to the south east. Following where others have gone I found myself wading through head high gorse to attain the top. There must be an easier way up, perhaps from the graveyard to the west.
Apparently Sam MacAlastair, sidekick to Michael Dwyer is buried in the graveyard.
It seems that this top may be locally known as Kilranelagh Hill.
To the east there is a stone circle at E (S935 892) which offers more interest than there is to be found at the summit area. There is also a rath near F (S932 891), but I was unable to locate the ogham stone marked on the OS.

Edit: After doing a bit of research I may have actually seen the ogham stone, which I think is within the rath and standing at an angle. The markings were perhaps shallower than I had expected! Such is the untrained eye! Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1073/comment/19811/

Tricky ascent.....
by Fergalh 6 Feb 2014
Take first left out of Kilteegan and proceed through crossroads and then take next right. Park at forest entrance ( Crsuna Rth (S93208 88627)), walk up track for 200 metres until turn to right, nearly immediately there is a rough track through trees. Proceed up this to forest ride, then turn right for 50 metres. Than turn left up stony track for 200 metres until track (very rough) on right up to the trees near summit. Go through trees until you arrive at wall behind which is the summit. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/summit/1073/comment/15830/

Proposed Windfarm refused 2021
by Bunsen7 23 Dec 2021
In March 2021 a proposal to develop a windfarm on this hill was rejected by Wicklow County Council.

Mountaineering Ireland were among the objectors on the grounds of the negative impact on the skyline of the Glen of Imaal.
