A good three hour walk on a clear day
by Pepe  28 Mar 2022
Started from the gate across the road at B. Took in Slieve Beagh as well, which added about thirty minutes each way out and back from the county high-point. The recent dry spell meant conditions underfoot were mercifully benign. Heavy going in places but overall not too bad.
Saw not a single soul in these wonderful uplands - the whole caboodle was shared by me and the pipits. One thing though, even on a clear day like today it would be easy to become disoriented because the vista all around here is remarkably similar in every direction. Walking this high plateau is like walking in a desert. Here the horizon all around is dominated by remarkably same-looking features. As you go along mark certain hills with your eyes so you can be sure to get back down safely. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1053/comment/23450/
