Summary
for Carhoo Hill (Cnoc na Ceathrún):
Dingle Eask Tower
Summary created by aidand

This is a modest climb, but with wonderful views. Take the road out of Dingle towards Ventry. After about a mile turn left at a sign marked 'Hanlon's handbags'. There is a parking area with a hut and a sign for Eask Tower. There is an entry charge of €2 per adult. It's a short steep climb up through farmland. The top has a large tower, presumably a marker to help boats find the entry to Dingle Harbour. There is also a coast guard hut dating from World War 2 and a pillar erected to mark the Holy Year of 1950. The views are excellent in all directions. A great place to bring kids, but beware of the steep drop on the seaward side. You might even see Fungie!
From many parts of Dingle and the surrounding area the Eask Tower on top of Carhoo Hill is very visible. If you attempt to go up by the obvious route you will be confronted by this demand for payment for access.
Your choice.
The sign printed in red beside the charge says that you will be on a farm and the occupier of the farm excludes the duty of care towards visitors. But they'll take your money nevertheless. Ireland of the Unwelcomes.
