This hill is unnamed on OS maps, but it is mentioned in the Parliamentary Gazetter of Ireland: Collon-hill, 3¾ miles south-south-west of Wicklow, 782 feet. James Fraser describes in more detail in A Hand Book for Travellers in Ireland: Two miles to the seaward of Kilboy bridge [near Kilbride] is the Hill of Collon. It attains an elevation of 782 feet and is remarkable as rising considerably over the lower hills with which the surface of the country is varied; and from it an extensive view of the coast and country around are obtained. The townlands of Cullen Upper and Lower appear to have the same name in a variant spelling. For origin of name, see also Collin Top and Big Collin (Co. Antrim). Has been called Castletimon Hill.   Collon Hill is the 1310th highest place in Ireland. Collon Hill is the second most easterly summit in the Wicklow area.

One to go!
by eamonoc  8 Nov 2013
99th on my local 100 list climbed today. I started at point T3016587799 A as mentioned by other
MT viewers, followed tracks and made it to the T junction armed with all the information about Collon from others I decided to go left at the junction. I followed the path around the until I could see the summit up to my right, using csd`s comments I kept on the path and just before I reached point T3014986836 B, I saw a gap in the trees to my right, I headed in here and initially climbed very steeply uphill uphill over some craggy steps, I was able to follow a route where someone had cut some of the gorse bushes to make upward progress an easy matter, made it to the trig point with no difficulties. Great views towards the Irish Sea, and westwards to the entire Wicklow, Dublin Mt ranges. Linkback: https://mountainviews.ie/summit/1011/comment/15254/
