Living in the Wild
In response to padodes encounter with primitive Man-In the Coillte car park on Kilmashogue Lane, where the Wicklow Way enters the forest I once met a man who claimed to live in the mountains "thereabouts". He said he had a tent and hut set up and local farmers had helped him rig up a generator with the result that he has a fridge and TV. He said he comes down to mind cars in the car park for a few bob, and goes down to Rathfarnam once a week to collect his social welfare. He also said he goes down every day for a jumbo breakfast roll. He said he had all he needed. When I asked him about how he minds his belongings he said he has set up "man-traps" around his mountain dwelling. He seemed content enough. I have seen him since but not in a long time. Other MV members familiar with that car park might have met him. Along with padodes Primitive Man and this chap I wonder if there are many other examples of people living out in the hills?
