Mountaineering Ireland - Hillwalkers Working
"Decisions are taken by the people that turn up"
If you are concerned about the future progress of the sport of hillwalking in Ireland you may be interested in the following, currently on the Mountaineering Ireland website.

Note: this includes non-club hillwalkers.

Hillwalking Working Group

In keeping with a motion from the Irish Ramblers Club, which was approved at Mountaineering Irelandís recent AGM, Mountaineering Ireland is seeking expressions of interest from people who are interested in joining a Hillwalking Working Group. The purpose of the group is to undertake a survey, and to develop terms of reference and propose an initial work programme for a Mountaineering Ireland Hillwalking Committee.

It is likely that the work of the group will extend over a number of months between now and the end of 2018. The aim is to form a diverse working group which includes representation from different geographic areas, large and small clubs and non-club hillwalkers, as well as Mountaineering Ireland Board and staff members. Those who are interested should send an email to info@mountaineering.ie before 5pm on Wednesday 16th May, outlining what skills, experience and personal qualities they would bring to assist the working group. Members of the working group will be selected and approved by the Board of Mountaineering Ireland.
