Can you copyright a mountain name?
Can a place name, such as a mountain name range name be copyrighted? It seems so in the UK where the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) claims copyright on the name 'Glencoe' through their ownership of the Glen. The NTS is seeking to ban unauthorised use of the name by third parties, see https://www.ukclimbing.com/news/item/71219/nts_threaten_outdoor_firm_over_glencoe_name_copyright

Perhaps Mountain Views should trademark all its mountain names before someone else does and charges us for using them!

On a similar thread, the National Trust wants to charge photographers up to £400 if they commercially benefit from taking a photo or video view of NT lands in Snowdonia. https://tohatchacrow.blogspot.ie/2017/08/national-trust-targets-photographers.html?m=1

Slieve Bawn: No longer a drive-up

A series of new road barriers means that it's no longer possible to drive further than the car park on the Strokestown side. A very pleasant walk uphill from the car park to the summit and back to...

I started at Point A car park and followed the path. At about 520m (-9.4817 51.9882) the path swings westward, as you walk along the path, the coum for the Devil's Punchbowl comes into view. After...

Knockalongy South-West Top: Beware of the barrier

We followed sandman's route to the summit which is probably the best way to explore Knockalongy and its satellites. Gentle gradients but many eroded peat hags. Worth noting that the forest barrier...
