Tinto and the dying of the light
Very good captain my captain. Very entertaining.
Some inferences bagged I imagine, if albeit after a couple of dry runs.
To be fair now, my premise is quite different from the one you would have us derive - and therein resides a telling story.
I like my old hillwalker more because I was a young hillwalker .... with ambitions; I like theirs less because they weren't. They don't have the form. They don't have the ticket. Not politically correct? Well sure I come from the Stone Age. And when I write that I like my old hillwalker I rather do but all the more because I have that ticket. Very, very hard won.
But of course you know that isn't the thrust of the argument. Rather it is that I am pleased there is a new generation of bright, young, clear-eyed track rats ready for action and that the hills will not be abandoned to you and me in our jimjams trying to find Burger King - we should all be pleased with that. Now where did I leave my specs, my scrapbook and my ice axe?
