Quads and Rangers
Aido's suggestion that people contact the Wicklow Park Rangers when they encounter quads on the rampage in the National Park seems reasonable. Then again, most of this activity is taking place on the fringes of the Park or elsewhere. And even if it were in the Park, unless the rangers themselves had quads and scrambling bikes, they would be hard put to catch up on the ‘quadsters’ and bikers in their destructive flight across the hilltops. In parts of Wicklow, as far as I can see, many owners of quads are locals who either have keys to the forest barriers or make their approach through farmland, so access to the uplands is no problem. To the NE of Aghavannagh Bridge this is certainly very noticeable and also involves cars. Maybe the ultimate solution lies in environmental education rather than in improbable policing, but judging by some of the utterly mindless damage being done, I wouldn’t be too sure that that will work either.
