"Late afternoon view north from Bayoyo in Fuerteventura." from simon3 Contract pics
Picture: Late afternoon view north from Bayoyo in Fuerteventura. (Contract pics)

Badlands, purgatory and blue of Fuerteventura
Near Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura lies Bayoyo, 271m, overlooking the lava strewn northern extent of the island. The locals call this type of land malpais (bad land). Two smaller extinct volcanoes stick up here Montaņa Loma Blanco, 146m and Montaņa del la Mancha, 148m. While small in absolute terms they dominate their localities. Between them on the coast there's an area covered in the fine yellow sand that arrives in such quantities from the Sahara on the wind. For some reason this stretch of beach has the name Purgatorio.

Lackakeely: An easy bag after Mweelrea
magnumpig a day ago.
Mweelrea is a sweaty old climb (for me anyways) and if, like me, you feel that climbing it deserves bagging more than one peak, you should visit Lackaleely. Basically it's a small rise overlooking...

No excuse not to come over here for a peek if you are at Truskmore, so that's what we did and it's worth it for the extra view.
