Maamturks Question
Currently looking at the southern stretch of the Maamturks from Corcogmore to Binn Mhor. The normal way of doing this would be to start from the R336 to the east and descend to Maumeen - however this leaves you a long way from your car and a 12k+ roadwalk is not the ideal way to end the day! Accordingly, I am looking at approaches from the south, from off the N59, perhaps ascending the southern spur of Corcogmore, romping over the hills, and descending down the southeastern spur from Binn Mhor immediately west of the Owenanookera stream. I would perhaps make use of the minor road north of the N59 at around L928 470 for parking.

There is no indication on the site as to anyone using this route - has anyone done it, or have any thoughts on its viability?

Apparently we may need to consider moving one of our mountains south a bit. Apparently an eagle eyed Donegal resident spotted this in a picture at Cork airport. And sure we've also stolen Rory Gal...

A couple of pics from a frigid hike up Slievenamon that continued on to the NE top, Sheegouna.Amazing how even the most unremarkable hills are transformed by the white stuff.
