Is Little Skellig the Inaccessible Pinnacle?
An Tiaracht was considered by many here to be the trickiest one to access. As boats do not usually land there, the only access was by helicopter with the Irish Lights.
I see Little Skelligs is added to the summit list. Not only does it have no jetty or landing spot, unlike its larger neighbour, it doesn't have a lighthouse that might raise the possibility of a helicopter ride. Anyone who has been out to Skellig Michael may have passed it on both sides and seen how completely inaccessible it is, rising straight out of the water. Plus I suspect it is protected or owned by Birdwatch Ireland or some such crowd as it is covered in nesting colonies.
So have we found a real Inaccessible Pinnacle? I wonder if any birdwatchers have landed there and if so, how. |
