The Dunkerrons and the sea...
...you won't see the sea from the Cloonaghlin side at all I'm afraid. It is blocked by higher land that rises along the north side of the peninsula, Knocknadobar, the Glenbeigh Horsehoe and so on. The sea is much more immediate to the southern side of the range which sweep down to the Kenmare Bay and hug that coastline.

Apart from that, summer is a good time for the Dunkerrons because days on them can be long. There is no tarred road crossing the range between Mullaghanattin and the Pass of Coomakista between Waterville and Caherdaniel, and the only real track across them is one pass behind Castlecove where the Kerry Way winds between Staigue and Eagles Hill. So getting on and off them can be a bit of a trek.

Tooreenbaha, above the Rabach's Glen at the start (or finish!) of the circuit. Knockatee is the distinctive hill in the background.

A view of Knockowen from Tooreenbaha. The Healy Pass is the gap on the right of the picture and the road can be seen rising across the slopes.
