Before the Fall
Aidy I have a friend on Facebook. Serious, committed hillwalker but also expert on just about everything - well all things meteorological and the like - and very enthusiastic about all of it.
Last year wintertime, he set off on Facebook about avalanches and such and to be honest I just thought ..,... well ..... avalanches in Ireland, the Loch Ness monster in Scotland, the Yeti in Nepal. You know the kind of thing.
But true enough, there it was. On a run up to Spelga Dam in the Mournes, Cock Mountain - big avalanche and better still, a rockfall from the summit along with it. Anywhere near it when it happened and Goodnight Vienna.
So avalanches in Ireland? Very unlikely ... until the one that kills you.
Prob best just chill though,.
