Wrong Tracks
What this is, is part of the heap of rubble installed as a "track" by the Mourne Heritage Trust, the length of the Glen River, Slieve Donard - or more accurately their idea of a track. Sure we never contested it, so what do we expect?
Yes the turmoil on the right. Not the track on the left, which it turns out, is our comment on it.
Emerging from Donard Wood on to the Glen River track, a thing untroubled for decades, we find at least 5 tracks taking off towards Donard. Only one of them is the MHT's oeuvre.
So all the way up the glen, walkers are avoiding the MHT track. It is unpleasant to look at, uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous to walk on and simply irritating.
What a waste of time. What a waste of money. What a waste of effort.
In contrast, the Hydro people have re-instated things at the middle bridge with some success - Oh yes and some thought.
Why is it I see everywhere imaginative, innovative, sensitive work on our countryside including some fabulous work on my own doorstep by Armagh council on the Folly river track and yet in one of our most important tourist attractions ..... this kind of rubbish?
I mean, the boys on the left don't seem to need three thousand and three steps to Hell ...
