The summit question
My point was not related to the height at all. As I understood, the point raised was not about the height of the south pinnacle of the Great Skellig, but whether people could consider it bagged once they get to the highest point permitted. If not, and that point was taken to its conclusion, you could have the odd situation that where the highest point is covered by a structure, no one could claim to have summitted it. The same would apply to fenced off summits, those with telecommunications masts or, as in this case, those where entry is prohibited by the OPW. I tried to get to the summit on the north side of the island but a very polite OPW guide called me back, the south side is fenced off and the are signs saying access is not allowed.
