Walking weekend in May
I'm arranging a couple of walks on some of my favourite hills for the weekend of 11th/12th May and I'd like to invite all MV members to take part. The Saturday walk is Sallagh Braes, NW of Larne. The Sunday walk is Binevenagh. Sallagh Braes is particularly beautiful in May with bluebells in bloom. Binevenagh has a magnificent rugged profile and for my money is one of the finest mountains in Ulster, punching far above its modest height of 385m. You can find both of these in the list of walks on this site. The weekend will be organised along similar lines to the Scavenger Walks in the past, in that everybody takes part at their own risk and is responsible for navigating themselves. However, I won't knowingly leave anyone behind! I'll be returning to Belfast each evening after the walk, so you would need to arrange some accommodation. Who's interested? All the best, Paul

Caherbarnagh East Top: An unremarkable summit, worth the visit for the views.

The summit is unremarkable though easy to spot as it lies along the fence.

Caherbarnagh East Top: An easy stroll from Caherbarnagh.
David-Guenot a day ago.
There is a gate to cross when coming down from the cairn at the NE end of the main Caherbarnagh ridge (I found it was actually easier to cross the fence just right of the gate). There is a faint t...

Caherbarnagh East Top: A worthwhile addition.
David-Guenot a day ago.
This summit is easily reached from the main Caherbarnagh ridge and seems easy enough to get to from Curracahill as well. If coming from Caherbarnagh, best is to cross the fence just before the col...

Scarr North-West Top: Bird's eye view
Colin Murphy 6 days ago.
The descent from Scarr NW affords fine views of the Glenmacnass Waterfall and the expansive valley below it, far better than you'll get when you're at road level.
