Crazy mixed-iup
Alex, hill-walking has always had bits about getting out of your crust, running from the pint on the way home, through the rock-climbers' 16 pint Guinness aperitif and on to the wholly amphetamine-fuelled exploits of certain Scottish climbers in the 60s. It doesn't do to get prissy about it, even if these people are a bit short of being role-models.

But your liking for Zep argues that you're not really getting out enough. They were a band who already looked crass in the 70's. Try taking yourself rapidly forward through the 70s - the Undertones can help here, skip the '80s (the decade that taste forgot), touch on Nirvana, the Stone Roses and Hothouse Flowers, then launch yourself into the 21st century. Myself I'd argue ballboy, Aberfeldy and Biffy Clyro were a good intro, but I'm elderly and Scotch. I have been known to sing Incredible String Band songs on the mountain but I rapidly find myself alone.

No excuse not to come over here for a peek if you are at Truskmore, so that's what we did and it's worth it for the extra view.
