Farmer fined €25,000 for destroying ringfort
Something we often find in the hills are ancient monuments, ringforts, cairns etc. A farmer destroyed one on his land in Kerry, and was this week fined €25,000 by Tralee court.. http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0302/omahonyj.html

These monuments are protected National Monuments, and this was one of the first cases of its kind to come before the Courts. For those living near Wicklow, West Wicklow has many such monuments, such as the huge intact ringfort on Baltinglass Hill. Just don't damage it when you're there..
