Jim is a key organiser of the 77's, who I don't think is on MV, so I don't think it is fair to be commenting on how good it is to see him being told off by some crowd pleaser.

I believe the brunt of the damage is due to the explosion of activity in our hills following the large scale promotion of the hills, the Mournes especially, as a place for everyone.

I think closing mountains is the right idea for anyone who truly appreciates our deminishing wilderness. Only then will the mountains be able to recover from erosion and pollution. The erosion of Slieve Donard and Slieve Binnian in specific may have been slowed down by the installation of hard paths, however the pollution is horrific. No matter how much "conservation" and "education" you apply, this problem is not goin to dissapear untill real measures are taken.
