THOUGHTS ON CONSTRUCTION WORK IN MOURNES
Maclimber makes light of my concerns about the propriety of The Mourne Heritage Trust’s construction work in the Mournes. This is work that will change the complexion of the area: one will argue for better; another for worse. I have heard no demands from walkers in the Mournes for this work; I see no need for it – it will not bring more people into the mountains (we are already there); and it is a public expense (you and I pay for it one way or another) and more worthy causes go begging. In the light of these realities I cannot see how it is possible to justify this work.
I would welcome other mountainviewers thoughts.
