Memorial, Ger McDonnell and options.
In the last MV Newsletter there was a piece attempting to balance the heartfelt need to remember people such as Ger McDonnell with the desire to respect the non-artificial, semi-wild nature of hill and mountain summits. (See http://mountainviews.ie/newsletters/month/2010-10/ )
One issue discussed was that of people declaring their desires or intentions in the event of their death with respect to intrusive memorials.
Serenditiously, one approach you might consider comes to light today, courtesy of the Irish Times - the Green Graveyard. Article:
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/0808/breaking8.html Were you to buy your plot there, it would signal your intentions but provide a proper place for a memorial in a place respecting the environment.
