"Turlough Hill & Lough Nahanagan from Brockagh" from tgormley Contract pics
Picture: Turlough Hill & Lough Nahanagan from Brockagh (Contract pics)

Turlough Hill
A colleague who was an engineer in the ESB says the engineer in charge of the Turlough Hill project did indeed have a son called Turlough. However, he "sold" the name for the project on the basis that it would be similar to an artificial turlough. See http://www.tcd.ie/Botany/turloughs/description.html for more about the feature. Just last week there seemed to be a natural one north-east of the track from Tonelagee to Mall Hill - at least there was a substantial body of water that the map told me didn't exist (cause of an anxious moment or two) but maybe it was just a puddle.
Not really a clear enough day for photos but I'll try uploading one and see how it turns out.
