The Smokey Mountains
Was on the Reeks yesterday and there was extensive gorse burning on the hills around Lislebane (west of knockbrinnea). It looks like the fires have been burning for several days. The wind was blowing smoke into the Hags Glen and conditions certainly weren't good for anyone with a bad chest. A few of our walkers found the going tough. It wasn't until we reached Stumpa Barr na hAbhann that we were out of the smoke for the day. I have seen this burning going on last weekend as well on the Paps. Does this happens in many other places around the country?
