Rob Milne
It has just been reported that Rob Milne died nearing the summit of
Everest.

www.everestnews.com

Rob, 49, was an occasional contributor to Mountainviews (rmilne), for example on Mweelrea or Mount Leinster and to various other forums including uk.rec.walking He combined an interest in several of the world's highest mountains many of which he had climbed with a respect for the value of smaller peaks and less well known tops such as the Corbetts. He remarked in 2003 that ".. recently I would guess the Everest gets more ascents per year than Aden does. " (Ben Aden is an 887m peak in Scotland). Whilst most of the readers of MountainViews did not know Rob personally (certainly I had only corresponded with him) I am sure we are all saddened by his passing.

Ben Bury and Mweelrea form an impressive sight from Clare Island.

Caherbarnagh East Top: An unremarkable summit, worth the visit for the views.

The summit is unremarkable though easy to spot as it lies along the fence.

Caherbarnagh East Top: An easy stroll from Caherbarnagh.
David-Guenot 5 days ago.
There is a gate to cross when coming down from the cairn at the NE end of the main Caherbarnagh ridge (I found it was actually easier to cross the fence just right of the gate). There is a faint t...

Letterbreckaun can be seen from Clare island, around 33km away. It appears between Mweelrea and the high ground towards the Sheefrys.

Caherbarnagh East Top: A worthwhile addition.
David-Guenot 5 days ago.
This summit is easily reached from the main Caherbarnagh ridge and seems easy enough to get to from Curracahill as well. If coming from Caherbarnagh, best is to cross the fence just before the col...
