Iconic Mountain: Bringing in Glenroe
Ok dbloke, Croagh Patrick does probably qualify as one of the most Iconic Mountains in Ireland. It is climbed by thousands, revered by all, and yes, it did merit a special mention in the brilliant Father Ted. But what about padodes flag - would the image of Croagh Patrick include the concrete toilet blocks that adorn her slopes? The economy may be in the toilet but would the image of the Iconic Mountain need to include toilets? On the other hand the Great Sugar Loaf featured in the opening sequence of the second longest running soap opera on Irish TV - Glenroe. Glenroe, which ran from 1983-2001, was watched by hundreds of millions (well lots) of folk. If the Sugar Loaf was good enough for them then it should be good enough for all. And there are no (built) toilets on the hill!
