The Dublin & North Wicklow Mtns
Thank you for your kind comments, Simon. Yes there are limitations in the SRTM data as the grid of elevation points is 3 seconds of arc or about every 100 metres, so small features are easily missed. That said, the purpose of the map is for general navigation on the hills and these contours serve this for these generally rounded hills. I've noted your points re errors and we'll check them out but I would add that I deliberately left that break in the path that runs up the flank of Djouce as that's the way it was when I trod that way last summer!! The path became vague on the ground for a wee distance. I did incorporate an 'indistinct' path symbol at a later date, so should probably apply that here partially. But perhaps the track has greatly widened in the intervening few months - unlikely? Perhaps - winter etc.
And yes, we'll gladly sell the map from www.eastwestmapping.ie
I'd love to say that it was widely stocked in the outdoor shops but the uptake is a bit slow to date - their loss! But available also in Great Outdoors, Charles Camping and Eason's. thx
