Re Isolation & Remoteness
Wicklore asks an interesting question - where is the most remote summit in Ireland, if we take remote "to mean a mixture of distance from roads, houses, facilities, people and man made noise." We may need to work on the definition a bit - there's a lot of devil (semantic ambiguity anyway) in the detail there I fear. By road do you include forest roads? By houses do you include out-houses or near ruins? Facilities are a bit clearer since they are usually well defined telecommunications or other utilities but then we come to people. Do we mean recreational users, walkers, farmers? What standard can we agree on? I'd be interested to hear opinions on that.
