Three of the four Isles of Icane can be seen in this photo (Carrickanine is hidden on the far side). The stack-like island in the middle of the group is known as Eagle Rock. Linkback: mountainviews.ie/island/2384/comment/23515/

Updated Island Names
by Pepe
Sun 16 Mar
Going by Gerald Geoffrey Spencer's excellent "30 Year Study of the East Waterford Coast", the outermost of the two Sheep Islands is known as Vales Island. The large boot-shaped isle alongside Sheep Island is known as Carrickanine. This island group is known generally under the romantic sounding title Isles of Icane - probably related to the various townlands of Islandikane (OS spelling) on the nearby mainland. This area is at the heart of the Copper Coast, and full of fascinating sea arches, caves and secret coves uncrowded, unknown and largely unexplored.
